The Electrical Room Key is the key used to unlock the area containing the Circuit Breaker Puzzle in The Electrical Room.

Overview

The Electrical Room Key is used to unlock the area in The Electrical Room that contains the Circuit Breaker Puzzle.

In The Electrical Room, players are able to climb a set of stairs leading to the top floor of the room. The Electrical Room Key will spawn on a random shelf on this floor, and players can add it to their inventory.

This interactive map of The Electrical Room marks the specific areas the Electrical Room Key can be found.

Notes

• After the Hotel+ update, a lockpick can be used as an alternative to the Electrical Room Key.
  • The Skeleton Key can also be used as an alternative to the Electrical Room Key. But because it is much more difficult to obtain, it is recommended that it is used for other purposes, such as obtaining the Green Herb or entering The Rooms.
    • Lockpicks and the Skeleton Key are able to unlock the door in question before Figure's initial cutscene/"attack" in The Electrical Room, which cannot be done with the Electrical Room Key.
  • Prior to the Hotel+ update, if players tried to unlock the area with a lockpick, they would receive the message: "Your Lockpicks don't work on this door."
  • If the door the Electrical Room Key opens has already been opened by the Skeleton Key or lockpicks, the Electrical Room Key will despawn.
• The Electrical Room Key cannot be preserved in the Rift.

Usage

To use the Electrical Room Key to open the door in question, players must hold down E or on Xbox for several seconds. After these seconds have passed, the door will be unlocked.

Trivia

• Because no other keys can spawn in The Electrical Room, the Electrical Room Key is the last key players can encounter in the Hotel.
• Before the Hotel+ update, the Electrical Room Key would only spawn in a single specific place, that being inside the Mineshaft Elevator. Currently, the key can spawn on any shelf on the top floor of The Electrical Room.
• The Electrical Room Key has a unique appearance compared to Room Keys; it is slightly smaller, does not have a tag signifying a door number, and it takes on a silver color rather than the bronze and gold colors Room Keys possess.
• The Room Key, Fuses, and this item (excluding the Backdoor Key and Retro Room Key) are the only pickup items that can't be put into the Rift.
• This is the only item that always appears only once during a run.
