"That is odd. I cannot figure out who you died to."
- Guiding Light's removed message about Glitch.
Glitch is an entity in DOORS that can be found in every floor/sub-floor. Glitch primarily acts as a failsafe when certain in-game bugs/glitches occur. In multiplayer in The Rooms and The Backdoor, Glitch has a second purpose, which is to teleport players to the most recently-opened door when the room they are in unloads.
Appearance
Glitch is a distinct dark-purple-colored humanoid similar to Seek, with multiple purple cubes and protrusions sticking out of its body. It passively emits an aura of pixelated and colored squares around its body.
Behavior
Glitch was a failsafe meant to ensure players could progress when the game would otherwise entirely break, such as when a new room would overlap with a previous one[1] or to prevent players from falling out of the map. It attacks players and sent them to the next room, though they will not take any damage. All rooms behind the new room are then unloaded to fix whatever issue occurred. It will initiate its attack by making the player's vision have slightly visible glitch effects, the door that the player opened will close itself and then Glitch will appear.
In The Rooms and The Backdoor, Glitch will teleport players that are a certain number of rooms behind the leader up to the front. The threshold is 7 rooms in The Rooms and 4 rooms in The Backdoor.
Notes
- Glitch can sometimes appear during any of Seek's chase sequences when a revive is used too early.
- Glitch also teleports players back when they fall out of the map.
- Glitch can appear as early as The Reception.
Bugs
- Glitch's audio is currently glitched and will only play the 2nd sound.
- Glitch can sometimes bug out, essentially making the player get stuck in an infinite "failsafe". It's unknown how this can happen, nor how players can replicate it.
- For around 2 hours, this bug affected many players who would get softlocked and not be able to progress. Although, it has now been fixed.
- During this time, if you died to Glitch, no death message would play.

- Glitch can sometimes bug out and do no animation nor movement. Instead, Glitch will stay in a I-pose right behind of the player.
- If Screech is present around the player and Glitch teleports the player, Screech will instantly damage the player, without any sound or jumpscare. This is a bug, it also can happen with Void.
- Players can also find Glitch with a very specific bug: trying to go through a "bugged door".
- Before the The Hunt Update, you could find a "bugged door" using a crucifix on Seek right when the last door of the chase closes. This way, the player could stay in The Grand Hallway and Seek would despawn. The rooms before the Grand Hallway would despawn, and the door that leaded to those rooms would be bugged. Trying to go through that door would eventually cause Glitch to attack the player[2]. This isn't possible since the update, as the Grand Hallway now despawns after the chase ends and Void teleports the player.
- It's also possible to find a bugged door doing a really specific bug. So, Rush can rarely skip a locked door (only possible in T-shaped locked room). If after this happens, the player gets voided or glitched, will go past the locked door. Trying to go through the door that Rush opened, before opening the locked skipped door, will result in Glitch teleporting the player back.[3]
- Interestingly, there is a bug with Halt's corridor involving Void. If players fail to get teleported inside or outside of the corridor on their own, Void will teleport them, but notably won't deal any damage to them, much like what Glitch does to players falling behind in The Rooms and The Backdoor. Despite Void only sharing that same exact behavior of safely transporting players with Glitch in that specific scenario, Glitch is not used for it.
Trivia
- Glitch is non-canon.[4]
- Guiding Light said it didn't know who killed the player if Glitch teleported them to the group. However, this message was removed in the Hotel+ Update and the statement was seemingly retconned when El Goblino claimed to have seen someone that looked similar to Seek, but purple and weird, inferring it encountered Glitch. However, it was confirmed that this will be updated for consistency with what is canon to DOORS.[5]
- It is possible this has already been updated and Glitch being canon, as the dialogue from El Goblino has been updated to refer to Seek as "That eyeball guy" rather than removing the possible mention of Glitch.
- Glitch will always turn the player's camera to face it when encountered.
- Prior to the Hotel+ Update, Glitch also teleported players that lagged behind in The Hotel back to the group and dealt 10-40 damage when doing so. This function has now been given to Void.
- Ironically, this was Glitch's original purpose. The room generation failsafe functionality was added later on.
- However, Glitch can still teleport players who are behind in The Rooms or The Backdoor or falling out of the map into the void.
- Glitch is the only entity to appear in every Floor. This might have something to do with the fact that it is non-canon.
- Glitch can jumpscare twice in a row.
- Despite popular belief, Glitch cannot damage or kill the player.
- In the Tower Heroes Event, Glitch seems to shapeshift into/possess other entities, albeit still showing its glitch particles.
- It is probably only capable of this because because both it and the Tower Heroes Event are non-canon.
- Glitch is taller than Figure.
- Glitch changed the release date of The Mines from January 2025 to August 30 2024, causing people to mention that it "saved" them for waiting more time.

History
Glitch can also be found by staying behind in an unloading room in The Backdoor.
This mechanic was possibly accidentally removed.
Glitch can no longer do damage, meaning its death message is no longer accessible.
