""I.. I think I'm seeing things." "
- "Trial And Error" Achievement description
The Glitch Fragment is an item that can be found on any Floor (excluding SUPER HARD MODE!!!, HOTEL-, and PARTY MODE). The Glitch Fragment's spawn rate is very low, but it increases if the player is jumpscared by Glitch.
Appearance[]
The Glitch Fragment is a fusion of a few black cubes and a purple-pink glow surrounding it, which moves around in a blocky way. It has random pixelated glitchy particles, and an aura surrounding it. It primarily has the colors yellow, black, purple, white, blue, pink, red, and green.
Usage[]
Upon use, it summons Glitch to jumpscare the player, afterwards it will black out the player's screen and show some glitchy imagery and dialogue for a few frames joined by glitchy noises. After the glitching subsides, summons one of three types of hallucinations in the form of "glitched" entities to attack the player. Surviving one of these encounters will give the player the Trial and Error Achievement along with 402 Gold and a random positive effect. These positive effects can be as follows:
- Fully recharges all the player's items and fills all the stacks to the maximum possible amount, then duplicates all the items (dropping the duplicates on the floor).
- Grants the player a permanent +4 movement speed boost.
- Increases the player's maximum health by 77 HP and heals them by 77 HP (not noticeable at first with 100% HP).
- Grants the player God Mode for 20 seconds.
Notes[]
- The Glitch Fragment is not able to be held in the players inventory, instead disappearing upon interaction, similar to bandages or batteries, all of which are resources.
- The Glitch Fragment can spawn on top or inside any container in any floor, replacing a regular item or resource.
- Encountering the entity Glitch decreases the rarity and increases the chances of a Glitch Fragment spawning.
- Five Glitch encounters are needed to guarantee a Glitch Fragment on top of a container.[2]
- Eleven Glitch encounters are needed to guarantee a Glitch Fragment inside a container.[1]
- Everybody's chance will reset once a Glitch Fragment spawns.
- Glitch encounters that don't teleport the player (the "Glitch" button in the Admin Panel, and the jump scare after interacting with a Glitch Fragment) do not affect the spawn chances.
- Each player will only be able to spawn an entity and get rewards from the first Glitch Fragment they collect in that floor.
- It is recommended for players to locate nearby potential hiding spots before usage, as all entities summoned can be countered using one.
- The player may take advantage of subfloors, as they lack Hide, allowing them to hide throughout the entire encounter. Glitch replaces Void, being much easier to encounter. This also applies to Retro Mode.
- If the player wishes to encounter it in a main floor, they may use different glitches and bugs to fall into the void. For example, skipping Void's teleport by using a hiding spot to fall into the void.
Entities[]
One of these three "glitched" entities will appear when using the Glitch Fragment:
|
RNIUSHCg==, also known as 'Glitched Rush' is a rare entity that was added in The Content Update. It has a chance to be summoned when a Glitch Fragment is interacted with or if "SPAWN ?????" is voted for while the Chat Control modifier is enabled.[3]
|
|
AR0xMBUSH, also known as 'Glitched Ambush' is a rare entity that was added in The Content Update. It has a chance to be summoned when a Glitch Fragment is interacted with or if "SPAWN ?????" is voted for during a run while the Chat Control modifier is enabled.[1]
|
|
SCJVEREECH, also known as 'Glitched Screech', is a rare entity that was added in The Content Update. It has a chance to be summoned when a Glitch Fragment is interacted with or if "SPAWN ?????" is voted for during a run while the Chat Control modifier is enabled.[1]

Pros and Cons
Pros[]
- Allows the player to get the "Error" and "Trial and Error" achievement, with the latter being hidden from the achievement's menu if unobtained.
- Always rewards the player with specifically 402 Gold.
- Can give the player various powerups after surviving an encounter.
- These include: more speed, temporary god mode effect, more health, and filling up/duplicating all items.
- Can spawn in every Floor and Subfloor (including floors like Retro Mode and 2025 Trick Or Treat, but excluding floors like SUPER HARD MODE!!!).
- Modifiers do not disable the spawning of the item (except "Out Of Stuff").
Cons[]
- Requires the player to encounter Glitch several times to be a common occurrence, which is a monotonous task.
- Extremely rare to appear in normal player progression.
- Summons entities which could hinder the player's progress.
- It may be difficult to communicate during multiplayer after picking it up, as it spawns enemies only for the person who picked it up.
- This may cause issues such as teammates running through rooms while other players are stuck dealing with glitched entities.
- Can leave players susceptible to other entities if activated.
- Each player can only receive rewards from one fragment each floor.
Trivia[]
- The Glitch Fragment is the rarest item in the game, being the lowest chance to spawn out of any item.[1]
- Glitch Fragments can spawn in any room with containers or tables.
- Each "glitched" entity's name is the name of their non-glitched counterparts, but with letters of a Base64 code injected into them.
- Assembled correctly, the code is "R0xJVENICg==", and it translates into "GLITCH".
- Base 64 translations:
- Red, Green & Blue: CACHE REFRESH
- GlitchTrialScreen: 404: NOT FOUND
- Console: I AM HERE
- Glitched entities are client-sided, meaning only the person who picked up the Glitch Fragment can see them.
- In The Mines, however, earthquakes caused by RNIUSHCg== or AR0xMBUSH can be seen by everyone.
- When the player survives the entity spawned by the Glitch Fragment, they will receive 402 Gold. This is a reference to a 402 Error, also known as the Payment Required error.
- The Gold that is given to the player by the Glitch Fragment does not count towards Knobs.
- In the 08/05/2025 patch, it was made so the Glitch Fragment couldn't spawn until the 8th door of the floor was opened; this was reverted in The Great Outdoors Update, as Glitch Fragments can spawn in the beginning of the floor again.
- Encountering Glitch before the 8th door would still increase the chances of spawning during this period.
- This change applied to every floor and subfloor where Glitch Fragments could spawn.
- The Admin Panel can't delete glitch entities.
- Multiple Glitch Fragments can spawn in the same room, but only one can spawn per container.
- Sally can't interact with Glitch Fragments.[2]
- Before the patch that made it easier to get the item, the Glitch Fragment chances were 1/10,000 (0.01%) as "confirmed" by a supposed QA tester[citation needed], this may or may not be true, because QA testers don't have access to the code and legally cannot leak anything from the game.
- In the console, when the player activates a Glitch Fragment, a message in the developer console will be printed, stating "SSBBTSBIRVJF" which decoded says "I AM HERE", and when the entity despawns it prints out "Destroyed hallucination" (as a Roblox warning) which may be implying the Player is hallucinating and that's why other players can't see the glitched entities.[3]
- After dying multiple times to glitched entities, Guiding Light will come to the conclusion that something is causing us to see things and that seems to have induced a heart attack.
- Curious Light, however, apparently recognizes and sees the glitched entities and is utterly confused on how they got to its subfloor, eventually asking the player if "it" followed them.
- The survival green screen that gives the player gold and the positive effect actually doesn't detect when the entity despawns. It always appears 20 seconds after the entity is spawned.
- Upon activation, if a RNIUSHCg== or a AR0xMBUSH spawns in, a message will be printed on the developer console that states "Hello friend...".
- When hovering over a Glitch Fragment, the interaction indicator has a different appearance, with the hand being cyan and the button being a pink non-rounded square. This unique alteration of the indicator resembles the one used in Retro Mode, albeit with an outline.
- Glitch Fragments are found in every floor, except for Battle Mode (and Super Hard Mode and Hotel- as they take place in previous game versions, and Ranked Mode before its removal).
- The Glitch Fragment might be inspired by the scrapped Glitched Bandage.[4]
- Before the first patch that made it easier to get the item, picking up Glitch Fragment didn't summon Glitch itself.
- None of the Glitch Fragment entities have crucifix animations. This is most likely due to them being “unintentional”, the same reason they don’t have jumpscares. Instead, RNIUSHCg== floats into the air, AR0xMBUSH simply disappears, and SCJVEREECH completely ignores the crucifix.
