"My heart beats stronger..."
- Herb of Viridis Achievement description
The Green Herb, also known as the Herb of Viridis, is a single-use (per player in the run) healing item that can only be found behind a Skeleton Door in The Infirmary, providing a regenerative effect to its user. It was added in The Hotel+ Update.
Usage[]
The Green Herb is found exclusively behind a locked door in The Infirmary that requires a Skeleton Key to open. It can be used once per player by interacting with it, and is not consumed or destroyed on use. Once used, it will instantly provide the player 25 health and a passive status effect that regenerates 5 health per door opened by the player, which is denoted by an icon of a bright green leaf (
) above the health bar.
Notes[]
- Revives will not bring Green Herb effects back.
- However, rebirthing with Lotus Flower will keep the Green Herb effect.[1]
- The icon will not disappear if a player has full health.
- The Green Herb's effect can be brought into other floors, having the same regeneration as in The Hotel.

Trivia[]
- “Viridis” means “green” in Latin.
- The Green Herb may be a reference to the "Green Herb" found throughout all games of the Resident Evil saga, backed by the fact that the small room containing the Green Herb features a typewriter and many papers and envelopes scattered around the room.
- The achievement description may imply that there could be multiple Green Herbs found elsewhere, although they are yet to be implemented if so.
- It may also imply that there could be differently-colored herbs to be found, much like the different types of herbs in Resident Evil.
- The Green Herb can spawn with an item overlapping it, such as Gold or Candles, which can make it impossible to grab the items, but still possible for the herb to be interacted with and used.
- The Green Herb previously regenerated 2 HP per second, however, this has been reworked after The Mines update to regenerate 5 HP per door.
- It is often theorized that the Green Herb may have been grown in either the Greenhouse or The Outdoors subfloor.
- In the game files, you could find a file named HerbRedEffect (that has been deleted) it is unknown what it use was for, but it may have something to do with the Herb of Viridis.
- Using the Green Herb gives players the same short glimmering screen effect given by drinking Starlight, but colored in bright green instead of yellow.
- Due to the glimmering visual effect, is theorized by some to either represent the Green Herb having a connection to both the Guiding Light and Curious Light due to their associated colors creating green when mixed, or a connection to a separate theoretical entity that may be of a similar nature to The Three Architects, but associated with green. Both of these ideas are highly speculative, however.
- One more evidence of this theory is the Green Herb automatically healing the player every door opened, as if an architect provides health for the player. Guiding Light can also heal the player with Moonlight Floats, and Curious Light can also heal the player through the use of Starlight items.
