"Don't try to steal from Jeff, man... he will make you pay. Should call him Jeff the Killer, or something."
- El Goblino, talking about Jeff.
Jeff, also called Jefftholomew Von Tentickle[1], is a friendly entity in DOORS that resides both in The Hotel and in The Mines.
Appearance
Obscured in darkness, Jeff can only be seen as a pair of large, glowing white eyes, and six tentacles, tinted a dark royal blue. When players purchase an item from the Jeff Shop or tip Jeff, he adopts a "cheerful" expression and taps his tip jar. If the tip jar is full, Jeff will throw the full tip jar behind him and pull out a new tip jar. When players enter his room, Jeff greets them by waving one of his tentacles and looking at them gleefully.
Behavior
Jeff is considered a friendly entity and will not damage players. Upon entering, Jeff will greet them before using his tentacles to place four randomized items on the cushions. Jeff appears to always stay in his shop, watching players eagerly, as if waiting for them to buy one of his four/five randomized items (there is one more in Door 159). If a player does buy an item, Jeff's eyes will appear more gleeful before he blinks and returns to his normal state. He will also play with any coins he has or his tip jar. If the player switches the music on his radio, Jeff will look at the radio angrily before smacking it, switching the music back. If any light source is shined at Jeff, he will cover his eyes with one of his tentacles. When it is shut off, he looks at the player with an angry expression, before returning to his neutral state. When Rush/Ambush comes across Door 52, Jeff disappears into his corridor along with his shop being closed by a grey overhead shutter. Similar to Jeff, El Goblino will also hide behind his table in an attempt to hide from Rush/Ambush. (Since the Mines update, Jeff does not close his shop; [2])
Jeff Shop
Jeff Shop (stylized as JeFF ꙄHOP) is a safe area. It always appears in a pre-generated location after The Library in The Hotel and after The Nest in The Mines. This room is always guaranteed to spawn. Before The Content Update, Jeff Shop would only spawn in Room 52 (152 for The Mines).
Entities
El Goblino and Bob can be encountered at a separate table, directly in front of both of Jeff's Shops.
Items
Items can be purchased at the Jeff Shop with gold that the player must find on their journey.
In the Hotel, the skeleton key is the only one of four items guaranteed to spawn, most likely due to accessibility of the rooms and the skeleton key room within the Infirmary, both taking place slightly after Jeff Shop. The other three items are randomly chosen and may be a: lighter, a lockpick, vitamins, a flashlight, or a crucifix.
In the Mines, a Spotlight, a Straplight, a Flashlight, a Bandage Pack, and a Battery Pack are guaranteed to spawn in his shop.
Super Hard Mode
- Jeff has the a chance to sell the Shakelight or the NVCS-3000.
Trick or Treat
- Jeff has a small chance to sell the Shakelight if the player eats a "You Finally Turn Green" Candy.
Retro Mode
- Jeff won’t sell anything to the player, appearing to be “out of stock.”
Trivia
- Jeff has 2 UGC accessories: the Jeff Backpack and the Big Tip Jar.
- RediblesQW has claimed that he will immediately donate to any player he sees in Pls Donate, provided said player has a Jeff booth.[3]
- The Quote under the "Pls Donate" achievement is a reference to Undertale, and its location Tem Shop.
- It has been stated on multiple occasions that Jeff and his shop will be coming back for future floors.
- Behind Jeff there is actually a long corridor.[4]
- The coin he sometimes plays with is found in this hallway, behind him, floating on the air, and it just slides to his hand when the animation plays.
- Despite being referred to with male pronouns by El Goblino, Ghostly_Wowzer, a DOORS developer, has confirmed that Jeff does not have a gender. [5]
- Jeff is 'best buds' with El Goblino.[6]
- El Goblino says he had shined a light on Jeff once, and mentioned that it was a "big mistake." This could imply Jeff has a horrifying and deceiving appearance.
- If a player attempts this, it will only briefly annoy Jeff, and nothing will be illuminated.
- Jeff is currently the only DOORS entity that can give players a cosmetic in another game without spending Robux.
- That being the Jeff-themed Pls Donate stand.
- Based on the Jeff Shop sign and tip jar, Jeff appears to write his (S)'s backwards. This is unknown if Jeff does not know how to write the letter (S) normally.
- He also doesn't appear to be particularly good at spelling in general.
- Jeff empties the tip jar when it's full, allowing players to donate 100 more gold.
- El Goblino says that Jeff has "killed those who took his items without paying."
- This may be the reason El Goblino nicknamed him "Jeff the Killer".
- This line is a reference to a Creepypasta with the same name.
- Prior to The Mines update, Jeff only had two tentacles. This was changed as Jeff's animations got updated and now has six.
- As of The Mines update, shining a light to Jeff will make Jeff block off the light with a tentacle.
- El Goblino says that Jeff makes a "banger sandwich"
