"Do you accept?"
- "Trade Offer" Achievement description
Louie is a friendly entity that can only be encountered in The Mines. It was introduced in the Content Update.
Appearance[]
Louie appears to be a rat-like creature with the nose of a star-nosed mole.
Behavior[]
Louie always resides in small tunnel-like holes found within The Mines. Players can drop any item near it except for Batteries, Bandages, Candy, Aloes, modifier/event exclusive items or Holy Hand Grenades. Shortly after, it will come out of said hole, look at the player, grab the item and retreat. In return, he can give the player a random item that is from the same value or higher than the item the players gave.
Louie will not emerge from its hole again after dropping 2 or more items in total.
List of Items[]
Louie can give the following items to the player:
| Item Given | Possible Received Items[1] |
|---|---|
Louie's trade mechanic is a pool-based system. The entity can only provide players with items randomly selected out of three distinct pools, and the pool which items are chosen from is decided by whatever item the player gives to the entity. Trading low value items, such as Glowsticks and Lighters will result in Louie giving the player an item from the lowest valued pool. Conversely, trading high value items, such as a Shakelight, will result in Louie giving the player an item from the highest valued pool, which consists of numerous items such as a Skeleton Key and a Spotlight.
- Sometimes, the trades can be skewed in favor of players or against them, such as how trading a Smoothie, a relatively common item, to Louie will result in the player receiving an item from the highest-valued loot pool. Likely because Smoothies are only able to be obtained from Floor 1 and a player would need to walk through it first before reaching The Mines.
- Each instance of Louie can only be traded with until it drops in total at least 2 items, after this amount is reached, the entity will stop coming out of its tunnel to inspect dropped items, so decide which items you want to trade wisely before proceeding with the transaction.
- Attempting to trade a Crucifix with Louie will result in the entity randomly dropping 4 items from any of its loot pools. Doing this will also crucify the entity, rendering that particular instance of Louie untradeable. However, if players find another one of Louie's tunnels in another section of The Mines, they will be able to trade with them there instead.
- Trading certain high value items Louie will result in him giving you numerous in return to balance out the deal, which contrasts to how they typically only give one item after receiving one item. Here are the items which function like this:
- Trading a Moonlight Candle, a Moonlight Float, a Starlight Bottle, Rift Jar or a Lotus will result in Louie giving you 2 items.
- Trading a Starlight Jug or a Crucifix will result in Louie giving you 4 items.
- Louie can't give you the same item you gave Louie. For example, when giving an Alarm Clock to Louie, it will be able to drop a Skeleton Key, a Spotlight or a Gween Soda but not Alarm Clock.
Trivia[]
- Louie's name and appearance originates from the Roblox hat Louie, which is also a rat, as confirmed by the co-owner Redibles.[2]
- Louie's big eyes are based off of a specific "funny image", as described by Redibles. The funny image in question is a meme that displays a sad hamster staring up at the camera.[2]
- Despite it being a common belief, Louie is not based on the 'Deep Sea Bunny' entity from Pressure, as the entity's concept was actually made a whole month prior before the Deep Sea Bunnies were even made public. Therefore, the similarities between Louie and the Deep Sea Bunnies is just a coincidence.[3]
- Louie can drop more than one item at the same time, and will not emerge from its hole again after dropping 2 or more items in total.
- Louie will not accept Aloe, Batteries, Bandages, Candy, April Fools-exclusive items or any item received from a prior trade with the same instance of Louie. Louie also will not react to activated Glowsticks or placed Alarm Clocks, as they aren't technically dropped.
- Prior to The Great Outdoors Update Louie did not accept Moonlight Floats.
- The Scammed achievement’s description is a reference to the "Scammer gets Scammed Buddy" meme.
- The Crucifix normally activates when the player is about to take damage or die, avoiding their demise from happening, except in Louie's crucifixion, as Louie can't damage players, being a very unique case.
- Louie and Dupe are the only entities that cannot be seen while being crucified.
- Louie's tunnels can be inside a variety of places, including but not limited to side-rooms, The Nest, The Dam, and even as early as Door 101 and as late as Door 200, including The Woods.
- Seeds affect the door(s) Louie spawns at. For example, using the seed 2782578 will make Louie always spawn at Door 101.
- There are a few cases in which Louie will always give in return the same items:
- Trading a Starlight Jug will always result in Louie giving in return a Skeleton Key, an Alarm Clock, a Spotlight and a Gween Soda.
- Trading Cheese will always result in Louie giving back Bread and vice versa.
- Louie has 3 UGC items: "Louie", "Louie's Head" and "Louie's Tail".
- Louie can't spawn in The Adit.
