Removed content, also known as scrapped content, refers to features that were removed from the game, or abandoned prior to its release.
Removed Entities
- An entity known as "Mobble" was found to be deleted before the game's release. The reason for its deletion is unknown.
- The developers have said that a 'Mobble' was one of many entities, with the first Mobble being Jack, and the next Mobble planned to be Ambush. The mobble concept was scrapped just four days before release, and Jack and Ambush were implemented as standalone entities.
- Mobble was originally going to be a "random jumpscare entity". Its mechanic was to randomly jumpscare players, but it was scrapped for unknown reasons. It was replaced by Jack.[1]
'Mobble' Article Recovery |
---|
Mobble is an entity where its only purpose is to scare players who encounter it. It could spawn on any floor. Behavior Mobble can interfere with the player in various ways. Currently, there is a (1/2000) chance for Mobble to appear on the other side of a recently opened door, along with a (1/20) chance Mobble being inside of a closet. The player cannot go inside a closet when Mobble is in as it will push the player away before abruptly closing it. Opening the closet once more will make it serve as an ordinary closet again. Notes

Re-Introduced
Dread was originally teased in a removed trailer for the Hotel+ Update. It was officially added to the game on March 15, 2024.
Removed Items
There was an untitled potion that has removed prior to the game's Alpha release. It is still unknown what are the uses of this.
The NVCS-3000 has been deleted and has been replaced by the Barrel of Starlight.
Re-Introduced
The Crucifix, the Skeleton Key and the Shears items were found to be deleted before the game's release. The reason for their deletion is unknown, however it is possible that their useful functions were considered too extreme for the state of the game at the time. Both items have since been added back to the game in the Hotel+ update, with the Skeleton Key being altered into a one-time universal lockpick for opening specially locked doors.
The Crucifix was designed as a one-time use entity prevention tool, temporarily trapping whatever entity it was supposed to be affecting in 'hell' before being discarded from the player's inventory. A video that shows the effect of the crucifix pre-release can be found here. Since the Hotel+ update, the Crucifix may now be obtained primarily at the Jeff Shop, with its purpose unchanged. The Crucifix can also be obtained rarely in chests, locked chests, on the top of a doorframe, or in drawers. The Skeleton Key acted as a universal key, being able to open all locked doors five times before being discarded from the player's inventory. This was obtainable via the pre-run shop for 100. After its reintroduction in the Hotel+ update, it can now be obtained at the Jeff Shop, and rarely through containers.
'Crucifix' Article Recovery Pre-archive | ||
---|---|---|
Crucifixes are a type of tool. Usage When equipped and facing specific entities, it will play an animation where it drags them to hell; giving its user a temporary escape. This is a one-use item and will be removed from the player's inventory once activated. The entity they used it on will still be able to appear and attack the player after being crucified. Notes

Removed Mechanics
- Glitch had the ability to teleport rogue players back to their group in multiplayer. This mechanic has since been given to Void in the Hotel+ update, although Glitch still does this in The Rooms, The Backdoor, and if a player falls out-of-bounds.
- Vitamins originally healed players when used, but this was removed in the Hotel+ update so other healing items could be added in the future, like the Green Herb. Starlight acts somewhat similarly to this old version of vitamins, in that it provides a speed boost and healing, which may be an intentional callback.
- In The Mines update, Figure's heartbeat minigame was replaced with a similar minigame for Hide, but was removed shortly after the update. Figure's minigame still exists in the SUPER HARD MODE!!! modifer.

Removed Designs
Ambush | |
---|---|
Ambush had its original appearances scrapped due to unknown reasons. However, there are a lot of differences between both original and currently used designs, being completely red and what appears to be a scalp under it in the second and a Jack like understructure design in the original instead of the distorted appearance. |
Shadow | |
---|---|
Shadow's first design texture was scrapped due to it looking like a hanging corpse, which the developers didn't want to risk trying to get through Roblox moderation. When comparing both designs, the original and the current one, they are not much different except for the original's head tilt, which would've been seen more apparent in-game due to its tall character. It was later reused in the Tower Heroes Event. |
Seek | |
---|---|
Seek's original appearance differs a lot from the current appearance, being more bent down forwards and mangled. The appearance is confirmed to be based on a free ReDead mesh in the creator marketplace with its texture altered to look more like the current Seek. |
Seek eyes | |
---|---|
The seek eyes originally had a lot more veins. They can be seen in the image of the old Seek chase. |
Figure | |
---|---|
Figure had two scrapped designs, the first being a mock-up and the other having a near identical appearance to the current entity design. The second design only differed from the current one with its round hands and small height. The design for Figure was remade right before the official release on August 10, 2022. |
Eyes | |
---|---|
In their first iteration, Eyes were originally meant to be much less sophisticated, being only a few eyes in comparison to their current version. Notably, they had a pair of flashing eyes similar to Halt though red in color, which could also be seen in their unused jumpscare. Eyes was originally going to be called "The Look Man". This name was reused for The Lookman entity. |
Halt | |
---|---|
Halt's current design was evidently drawn from its first. However, the original design was much darker and tenebrous compared to its reinstated form. Halt was originally going to be called "Shadow". |

SeekMoving (in-game)
seekv2 (asset) |
Appears to be a scrapped version of Here I Come. Its upload date is three months after Here I Come, suggesting it was composed afterward.
Although this version was scrapped from the game, an alteration of this version can be heard in The Mines' Seek Chase, albeit more finalized and cleaned up. |
Played (or will play) during a Seek chase. |
Removed
In older versions of DOORS, outside The Reception, there was an inaccessible void area, with a neon white block (this was where they tested The Rift) that emitted a heavily edited version of "The Angels Fountains 2".
Title | Description | Song |

VoidCollision.PlaySound (in-game)
The Angels Fountains 2 (asset) |
In-game, two instances are played, one with an EqualizerSoundEffect with LowGain set to -80, and the other with HighGain and MidGain set to -80. Both have a random PlaybackSpeed estimated to be between 0.175 and 0.225, and a ReverbSoundEffect with DryLevel set to -80 and DecayTime to 2.687. | (source) (in-game) |
Originally, Unhinged played in the Electrical Room instead of Unhinged II (Or "The Figure Enraged", as it was known at the time). This was removed with the Hotel+ Update.
Removed Rooms
The following rooms are no longer in-game.
Vent Rooms were rooms that had a boarded/broken door, and a vent on either the left or right that led to another room with a working door. This was removed due to glitches, such as Rush rebounding, and Screech appearing in a vent. The vents in this room were repurposed for Small Basements after the Hotel+ Update.
Mini-Libraries were seemingly poorly lit rooms that were reminiscent of The Library hence the name Mini-Libraries. They had a few bookshelves making somewhat of a pathway to find a hidden lever somewhere within the room. It was removed most likely as the developers wanted to focus on the decoration and gameplay of the basements.
The Old Basements originally had a simpler and more shallow design. The rooms had no vents, and the layout was different. This was majorly improved on in the Hotel+ Update where they got more depth and difficulty added to them. Their improvements were teased upon with a tweet by Lsplash, later to be added in the Hotel+ Update, as mentioned before.
The old Seek chase seemed to be a long stone gray corridor in a very early version of The Hotel with lots of Seek's old eyes, as well as Seek's old model. It was a prototype from 2020 which presumably contained the old Seek chase music (SeekMoving).
Before the Hotel+ Update, Room 99 had a lot less structure and was similar to a normal hotel room. It was a square shaped room with many random assets and drawers, not to forget the copious amounts of of hiding places where the player was meant to utilize to escape the Figure during the heartbeat minigame.
Old Room 100, commonly known as The Electrical Room looked similar to the Hotel+ version, but it lacked the maze area and the rift downstairs. Instead, the player could not go downstairs as it simply faded to black and had an invisible wall. The place that contains the circuit breaker puzzle is now simply a small hallway with no windows. The door to it cannot be opened with lockpicks. Up by the balcony area, there is a gate from the courtyard. This was removed in the Hotel+ Update for unknown reasons. Once the lever is pulled, it will trigger a cutscene with Figure. Figure will turn towards the doorway on the metal balcony by the doorway. Its mouth seems to glow every time it roars. It will swing from the roof and falls in between the staircases. Around this time, Unhinged will start playing instead of Unhinged II, as mentioned above. While pulling itself up, Figure will accidentally remove a metal shelf that was blocking the way to the elevator. At this point, the player has 2 choices. The first choice is the intended option. The player turns around, goes back to Room 99 and hides. They will play the heartbeat minigame with Figure, and then once Figure has left the room, the player goes to the elevator through a removed metal gate door and gets the Electrical Room Key. The second choice is the easier option. While Figure is still pulling itself up, the player could simply go through the unblocked staircase (Once Figure has unblocked it). They then get the Electrical Room Key in the elevator.
Once they have the key, the player simply needs to go down to the doorway of the breaker room and open it with the key. Then the player must enter and do the breaker puzzle. The player does not need to find any breaker switches to insert into the breaker. The puzzle is slightly harder, with even the first part of the puzzle being faster than the Hotel+ version. While doing this, Figure will be roaring and attempting to get out of door 98. Once the breaker puzzle is completed, Figure will break down the door and run to the elevator. It is very easy to outrun, however. This chase was also different due to balancing purposes, Figure's hitbox is way bigger once the start of the room. Once the player get to the elevator, it will play an older version of the ending cutscene.
Halt's Hallway was a long room with two sections. It was replaced by The Dining Hall in The Mines update.

Re-Introduced
H-Shaped Staircase
It was a normal room with two floors, being connected by stairs. It is unknown why this room was removed when Hotel+ released. The entrance could be both upstairs or downstairs. This room was re-introduced after the Floor 2 update. Now this room always has two Dupes.
Removed Assets & Models
During the development of the game, a few assets have been removed.
Tiled Ceiling
The Tiled Ceiling seemed to be a gray tile with a darker gray grid placed on it, as well as a checkered pattern with darker gray tiles. This feature was most likely removed before release because it didn't fit into the atmosphere/gameplay.
Alternate Drawer Type[2]
These drawers have the middle sticking out a bit instead of just being flat.
Alternate Candelabras and Candles[3]
There were multiple candelabra and candle designs, but only one is used.
Unused Stool[4]
This stool was never used in-game. It would've simply been used as decoration in the Hotel.
Old Couch Model[5]
This presumably old chair is the old version of the current couch decoration in the Hotel that has been reworked before it was released.
Awesome Tony Statue
Was a statue of what many fans call 'A Bacon Hair', with the words 'awesome tony'. It could've been found in The Library. It was later replaced by some furniture which had The Alarm Clock in the Floor 2 update.
Removed Modifiers
Certain Modifiers were scrapped or removed during the developing process.
Scrapped
Sightseeing
This Modifier was scrapped possibly because the mechanic was instead used for Eyes' Mines upgrade.
Pocket Change
One For All
Fully removed modifiers
A Few Places to Hide
This modifier was removed because Nowhere To Hide had its description changed to match this modifier’s description, which also caused an override.
- Do note that Nowhere To Hide was presumably broken at the time as it allegedly did not affect hiding spot spawning at all.
You Really Can Run
This modifier was replaced due to it making the game easier.
- The reason for this is because the extended Seek chase sequence provided by this modifier allowed you to pass through more rooms without entities spawning. This modifier has since been replaced by the "It Can Run Too" modifier, which increases Seek's speed.
Roundabout
This modifier has been removed due to the fact that Halt is now guaranteed in any run
TEMPORARILY REMOVED
SURVIVE THE DRAKOBLOXXERS
This modifier was removed due to a glitch when activating this modifier, it carries over to the Mines, therefore causing a crash.
LSPLASH removed this modifier temporarily to fix this bug, so it may return in a future update.
Re-Introduced
SUPER HARD MODE!!!
When the Backdoor Update was released, a new room generation system was added that the April Fools event was not compatible with, causing it to be removed from the game entirely.
Later on, the event was re-added into the game as a selectable floor, then changed back into a modifier (but users no longer need to obtain the badge to use it) with a new knob percent "reward" (-123.456%), although the badge remains unobtainable.
Removed sounds
Name | Sound | Description |
---|---|---|
Old Door Opening | There used to be an old sound when opening the door, this was changed after the Hotel+ Update (excluding the Library's entrance and exit doors). Most likely, the reason for removing this sound is that this sound was taken from the toolbox and too many games used it. | |
Grandfather Clock | Before The Hunt update, grandfather clocks used to emit loud ticking sound. This sound still can be heard in SUPER HARD MODE!!! | |
Seek Near Footsteps | Before the Hotel+ update, When Seek was close to the players, it made a loud stomping sound. For unknown reasons, this sound was removed from game. This sound still used in cutscene and first chase room |
