"That sucked... but hey, check out this cool flashlight!"
- "Back On Track" Achievement description
The Shakelight is a variation of the Flashlight that can be obtained in The Rooms.
Appearance[]
The Shakelight resembles a translucent jade-green flashlight that emits a dim green light. Its internal parts are visible on the inside.
Usage[]
The Shakelight functions similar to the Flashlight, but has a significantly smaller fuel capacity, only lasting 10.5 seconds; it also emits a green light that is slightly darker. However, instead of using batteries, it can be recharged infinitely by shaking it. Each shake only restores 1.5 seconds of fuel time, so it must be shaken multiple times to fully charge.
Notes[]
- The Shakelight can be purchased in the first room of The Rooms for
10. - The Shakelight does not reduce the chance of Screech from spawning, despite it being a light source.[citation needed]
- The Shakelight's ability to be recharged at any time allows for it to be used more freely than the flashlight.
- Rooms in The Rooms will get progressively darker as the players continue. Thus, it is highly advised that the players purchase the Shakelight if they have no other rechargeable light source.
- It's advised to only use the Shakelight as a secondary light source, as it's very noisy and since it relies on spam clicks, it can be fatal against A-90 and mask the sounds of A-60 and A-120.
- The Shakelight will alert Figure. This can be useful as you are able to lure it away from teammates or allow you to sneak by while Figure goes to investigate the sound. However, you should not do this when you’re at a dead end, or a location where you can only escape by going through Figure’s path to the sound.
- It is recommended to use the flashlight over the Shakelight, as batteries spawn in abundance in The Rooms and it is brighter.
- The Shakelight can attract Gloombats like any other Light Source
- The player must unequip the item to be safe from the gloombats, as there is no way to turn it off.
- The Prize Inside candy of Trick Or Treat can give the Shakelight though the chances are low.
- When recharging the Shakelight, the player's camera will shake slightly. This might have been added in The Great Outdoors Update.[verification needed]
Pros and Cons[]

Cons[]

- Dimmer than the Flashlight.

- Can only be obtained in The Rooms, or using the Trick or Treat modifier.
Item Skins[]
Bugs[]
- With precise timing, while the shaking animation plays, starting it again won't play the audio sound of it shaking.
- Before The Great Outdoors Update, having a Shakelight equipped would totally remove momentum from the player's movement.
- This could be abused with the "Wet Floor" modifier, making it have no effect at all while doing this.
Trivia[]
- The Shakelight was inspired by an item called the Gummy Flashlight from nicorocks5555's Rooms.
- This was also the item's name before it was released to the public.
- The item is a reference to the original Rooms made by nicorocks5555, in which players could obtain it through a gamepass.
- The item's appearance closely resembles that of the real life "NightStar II CS2" Shake Flashlight.
- The Shakelight's icon filename is "my name is jeff".
- Originally, its name referred to a Halt Flashlight Skin, meant to be a red herring.
- This item functions similarly and is inspired by the flashlight in Tattletail, another popular horror indie game.
- If you eat the "You Finally Turn Green" Candy during the 2024 Trick Or Treat Event, this item has a incredibly small chance of being found in drawers, or being purchased from Jeff's Shop.
- Before The Hotel+ Update, an unfinished version of the Shakelight could be find in the game files only 30 seconds after the game started.
- It functioned like the normal Flashlight.
