The Adit, also known as Door 100.5, is the starting area and first room players encounter when entering The Mines. It appears as the first definite room even before The Shafts.

Overview Overview[]

The Adit features a seemingly rusted minecart sits on wooden tracks, hinting that this room was once part of a functional mining operation. It contains a generator which has two missing fuses, and toolboxes and shelves scattered around. You will need to find the two missing fuses to progress to the next room. Dread takes extremely long to spawn here, so you can treat this as a "preparation" room or just a rest room before the vast amount of rooms ahead.

If a run is continued from The Hotel, all dead players who are still spectating will be revived upon entry.

Door Gameplay[]

In terms of gameplay, The Adit serves as a crucial area for players to familiarize themselves with the basic mechanics of The Mines. It's the first room you enter in The Mines and also the first generator room you encounter.

To complete The Adit, players must gather two fuses that are randomly generated within the item lockers/drawers/and or toolboxes and place them in the generator before walking up to the gate and clicking the button. It works like The Reception in The Hotel where you had to use a key to progress.

  • Rarely, the fuses for the generator do not spawn in any locker or toolbox.

Trivia Trivia[]

  • The room after The Adit, Room 101, is a guaranteed minecart puzzle.
  • At least one toolbox is guaranteed to spawn in The Adit.
  • This room somewhat implies that keys can't spawn in The Mines.
  • Adit means: 'a horizontal passage leading to an underground mine', but it's most commonly referred to as simply an entrance to a mine.
  • Hide's physical form that resides in the last hiding spot you entered doesn't spawn in this room until the first door is opened.
  • Behind the crashed elevator, there is an Easter Egg with an image of a cat.
  • The minecart in this room can't damage players even if they get flinged by it.
  • Dread may spawn, though it takes at least an hour for it to spawn. Modifiers do not decrease this number.
  • Every kind of damage in this room won't decrease the player's health below 2 HP until the first door is opened, except instakill entities. The same applies for The Reception and the first room of every floor and subfloor.
  • If the player dies in this room (to an instakill) before opening the first door, they will spawn back in the elevator. The same applies for The Reception and the first room of every floor and subfloor.
  • There are actually two different elevators, one used only for the Pre-Run Shop, which is just a static elevator that creates a falling optical illusion with moving particles and walls with animated textures. Players are teleported out of this elevator, and teleported into the other one when The Mines title is on screen and nothing else is visible.
    • This "fake" elevator is out of bounds, but just a few studs behind the "real" elevator. From the exterior, it just looks like a tall structure in the shape of a quadrangular prism.
  • If the player is using the Admin Panel and opens it at the start of a run while in this room, the door number & name will show "15 | HOTEL_VERYLONGROOMNAME" displaying the wrong floor & room number. This is a bug with Admin Panel. Entering another room will make the correct room display again.
    • The room's actual name is "Mines_NewStart".
