- Rock Bottom Achievement description
The Adit, also known as Room 100 (In The Mines), is the starting area and first room players encounter when entering The Mines. It appears as the first definite room even before The Shafts.
Overview[]
The Adit features a seemingly rusted minecart sits on wooden tracks, hinting that this room was once part of a functional mining operation. It contains a generator which has two missing fuses, and toolboxes and shelves scattered around. You will need to find the two missing fuses to progress to the next room. Dread cannot spawn here, so you can treat this as a "preparation" room or just a rest room before the vast amount of rooms ahead.
If a run is continued from The Hotel, all dead players who are still spectating will be revived upon entry.
Gameplay[]
In terms of gameplay, The Adit serves as a crucial area for players to familiarize themselves with the basic mechanics of The Mines. It's the first room you enter in The Mines and also the first generator room you encounter.
To complete The Adit, players must gather two fuses that are randomly generated within the item lockers/drawers/and or toolboxes and place them in the generator before walking up to the gate and clicking the button. It works like the reception room in The Hotel where you had to use a key to progress.
Players should be vigilant, as The Adit is also where they first encounter potential hazards. (such as Screech)
Bugs[]
- Sometimes, the fuses for the generator do not spawn in any locker or toolbox. In these cases, players should leave after searching all of the possible spawns.
Trivia[]
- In this location, Screech may make fake "Psst" sounds to throw off a player. These sounds don't cause any harm, but they can create a sense of unease and distraction.
- The room after The Adit, Room 101, is a guaranteed minecart puzzle called The Railroad.
- At least one toolbox is guaranteed to spawn in The Adit.
- This room somewhat implies that keys can't spawn in The Mines.
- Behind the elevator where player(s) fall, there is an Easter Egg with an image of a cat.
- This requires players to switch to third person by pressing ESC > Settings > Camera Mode > Tracking/CameraToggle.
- If the "Run From It" candy is used in The Adit, Dread will not kill the player, instead teleporting them to the elevator with no damage taken. During this interaction, no items will be lost, nor the Green Herb. Sounds will also seem muffled, and (most likely a bug) both rifts will appear in their usual locations, regardless of whether or not items are inside.
