"A breath of it!"
- "Touched Grass" Achievement description
The Outdoors is a subfloor accessed from within The Greenhouse in The Hotel. In The Outdoors, players traverse a large, outdoors-themed expanse, with their progress being marked by meters instead of doors.
The Outdoors released on August 10, 2025, as the main focus of The Great Outdoors Update. It can be accessed either from the entrance in The Greenhouse, or directly from the Lobby for
10 Stardust or 25 robux (given that the player has the Detour Achievement).
Overview[]
Entry[]
The Outdoors is a subfloor for The Hotel. The entrance to the subfloor is located both at in the first room of the Greenhouse (Door 90) and at the end of the Greenhouse (Door 99). Entering requires vines to be cut by either Shears or a Multitool, and a Skeleton Key to unlock the Skull Lock. Skeleton Keys can be always obtained from Jeff's Shop in The Hotel and can be rarely found in containers. Shears can always be obtained in The Courtyard, where a small toolshed will always spawn with them.
The Outdoors is not accessible with Modifiers active as a red barrier will block both entrances.
Exterior[]
The Outdoors takes place outside in a dark, forest-like environment during a thunderstorm (similar to The Hotel). The Outdoors includes many different structures such as graveyards, cabins, and monuments. The Outdoors has no labeled doors, instead the player must use signs posted around the subfloor to determine the depth of their run and additionally to locate the exit. There are many areas in The Outdoors that are blocked off with vines or behind a locked door, which require Shears or an Iron Key respectively. There are also visible signs that tell the players to not touch the grass, due to the many thorny vines which also appear around the subfloor, supposedly belonging to the World Lotus. The player will occasionally reach places that have multiple gates, some of which lead to small areas that do not have any further doors, requiring them to backtrack. Dupe is not present in this subfloor, so players can open gates without worry. Some larger gates require them to press a button to open them which can be found on the right or left side of the gate. Players should be mindful that these larger gates open after a short delay, so opening them to escape from Surge is not recommended unless necessary.
Areas[]
The Small Courtyard[]
- Players start by leaving The Hotel and entering the beginning of the The Outdoors. They find themselves at an exit of The Greenhouse, which leads to a small courtyard, including a fountain, a vine-covered chest, and a guaranteed small toolshed with Shears along with a vine chest to the far left of the open area of the room.
- At the end of the courtyard, there is a metal gate which requires them to press a button.
- When the button is pressed, the gate opens, leading players into the forest.
The Clearing[]
The Clearing.
The Groundskeeper neutralizing Eyestalk at the end of the chase.
About halfway through their run, the player will start to see aspen trees with markings that resemble an eye in the place of the normal trees. This indicates that the crescendo to the Eyestalk chase has begun. A few gates later, players will reach a clearing with many of these aspen trees chopped down with a visible log in the center. Upon reaching the next door, the player will see Eyestalk emerge from the ground and begin to chase them. The player must run from Eyestalk as they would Seek. Some rooms have 3 paths, 2 of which are blocked off. Players must quickly look at all of the paths to determine which one lets them continue. Sometimes there is a cabin in the only path. Players should be aware that the brick-garden corridor type rooms have Snares on the ground, so the player will have to watch their step to see where they are going. At the end of the chase, the player will jump down from a broken-down bridge and try to land on the path, but will fall short and grab on to the edge and watch as Eyestalk jumps at them ready to damage the player. Suddenly, The Groundskeeper leaps at Eyestalk and slashes it in half with his scythe. The player then stands up from the ground, as The Groundskeeper carries part of Eyestalk's corpse over it's shoulder, and leaves the player's sight.
The Mill[]
Grampy. Giving him 8 petals will result in him giving you a lotus.
Revive Lotus alley
Players will see a mill with a black figure sitting on a rocking chair, with a cowboy hat named Grampy. There is a basket next to him, this is most likely used to hold the lotus petals. Grampy is akin to El Goblino, both being simple passive characters that talk to the player. Grampy has a secondary purpose though. If players gather at least eight Lotus Petals throughout The Outdoors prior to meeting him, interacting with him will have him turn those petals into a Lotus, awarding the "Picking Flowers" Achievement. After dying and having planted the lotus, the player is able to rebirth in the room where the lotus was planted with all items, granting players another life. Surge is unable to spawn whilst you are inside The Mill.[1] There is also a guaranteed small toolshed with Shears to the left of the room.

Guaranteed Rooms[]
- The Small Courtyard: The starting room of the The Outdoors. The room has a fountain with the Caws sitting on it. Look down for more information.
- The Clearing: The starting room of the Eyestalk Chase, a bunch of aspen trees are found in there, with some trees cut down. The log in the middle is Eyestalk before the chase is initiated.
- The Mill: The room where Grampy resides. Giving him eight lotus petals will result in making a lotus. Look down for more information.
- The Hedge Maze: The last room of The Outdoors. It is a huge maze where the player/s have to cut three huge vines with the three guillotines, whilst Bramble tries to pursue the player/s.
Shears/Toolshed Rooms[]
These rooms contain small toolsheds, containers that always hold the Shears.
- The Small Courtyard: The starting room of The Outdoors, where you enter out of The Greenhouse. The Shears can either be found on the right or left side of the room against the wall or on the grass. This room also contains a vine-covered chest on the left side of the room resting beside a tree.
- The Mill: This is the room with Grampy in it, found not too far from The Hedge Maze, the final room. The Shears are found toward the left of the room next to the hiding closet under the cover of the balcony of the first building on the left.
- The Bridge: Titled "Bridge_1" in the game files, this is the room that is just a bridge connecting two sides of a ravine. The Shears are located on an island in a lake at the bottom of said ravine. This area is accessed via a grassy unmarked ramp section toward the left of the room. In this area there are also five vine-covered chests (1st is located in front of you when you reach the bottom of the hill, 2nd and 3rd are hidden in the 'vine-blocked loot area', 4th and 5th are located at the other side of the lake on the island), two lanterns (1st is slightly off the beaten path and 2nd is in the 'vine-blocked loot area'), and one crypt with a lotus petal (located on the left corner of the lake-shore).
- The Water Tower Room: This is the room where there is a water tower at the low elevated area of the room and the tree falls over near the water tower. The Shears are on the higher elevated area of the room where (if you go up from the water tower section) are located slightly to the right in the corner of a plausible sub-room. This room also has 2-3 Vine-covered chests (one located next to the fallen tree and 1-2 located in the higher elevated section slightly off the beaten path).
- The Graveyard: This room is identifiable because it has a crypt (the small room you unlock with the Iron Key) and a 'Vine-Blocked loot area' (The small area in some (sub-)rooms that has an entrance that has been obstructed by vines, inside is usually 2-3 vine chests and a lantern). The Shears are in the corner diagonally opposite from the 'Vine-Blocked loot area', they are also on the same side of the grass as the crypt.
Entities[]
Entities are beings that inhabit The Outdoors.
Unique Entities[]
"What intelligence... it's incredible."
- Curious Light
The Groundskeeper is an entity in The Outdoors. It was first teased during The Outdoors reveal teaser video and in the Daily Teaser from June 6th.
Appearance[]
The Groundskeeper is a humanoid entity with two glowing yellow eyes and grey/dirty skin. The bones of its arms are exposed and are covered in vines. It wears gardening equipment, such as boots, overalls, a shirt, and a hat. On its belt is a keychain. It carries around a large scythe. Its eyes emit a yellow beam of light, and its body also appears to have a green glow.
Behavior[]
Behavior-wise, the Groundskeeper is by far the most unique entity in the game, with multiple phases and states depending on what either the player does or what happens in the environment.
- When a "room" has an outhouse, Groundskeeper will spawn from time to time. However, if there's not a scythe on the shed, this can either mean the Groundskeeper has left it or that the Groundskeeper isn't there, thus making it unable to spawn.
- Normally, the Groundskeeper is passive/neutral, as it will tend to the grassy area around it. While not fully recommended, the Groundskeeper will not kill the player if you touch grass while it's occupied, allowing the player to maneuver around the grass in risky scenarios.
- Going on and off the grass or simply staring at it for too long will cause the Groundskeeper to start grunting and stare at the player while approaching them. If the player stops triggering the Groundskeeper, it will make either a "watching you" gesture or a slit-throat gesture and return to its passive state.
- Stepping and staying on the grass for too long while the Groundskeeper is nearby watching will make it charge towards the player, easily outrunning them, and killing them with two hits. One from its scythe, and the other with its foot stomping the player's skull.
- You can hide from the Groundskeeper if you have angered it when entering a closet, however, it may stall and wait at the closet, which softlocks the run unless another player attracts its attention. Though you should be fine leaving the closet while the Groundskeeper is stalling if there's no grass around.
- The Groundskeeper can find you whether or not you're above or below it when stepping on grass.
- When close, the Groundskeeper will look at you no matter what direction it's going in.
- If the player is being attacked by a Mandrake, the Groundskeeper will attempt to kill the Mandrake by running up to the player and stabbing the Mandrake with the scythe.
Jumpscares[]
- The Groundskeeper slashes at the player with its scythe, dealing 45 damage and knocking the player to the floor. The Groundskeeper then looks down at the player, raises its foot, and stomps on the player's face, killing them.
- Alternatively, the Groundskeeper impales the player with its scythe, dealing 55 damage. The Groundskeeper then drags the player across the floor, removing them from the scythe in the process, and the player quickly succumbs to the injuries.
Trivia[]
- The Groundskeeper is likely related to Grampy since the latter refers to it as "Sonny."
- The fact that Grampy refers to the Groundskeeper as "Sonny" suggests that it's a male because the word "sonny" is typically used to address boys or young men.[3]
- The Groundskeeper may also be related to Sally based on Grampy's reaction to the UGC accessory.
- Another clue to this is that in the Trick or Treat 2025 event, apon reaching Grampy's shop, he can say "Howdy. Welcome to Grampy, Sonny, n' Sally's" which shows that Sally is related to them in some way.
- The Groundskeeper was originally teased in the June 6th trailer, where its hat can be seen.
- Before the Mines update, Redibles uploaded a sketch of the entity, which later turned out to be a sketch of the Groundskeeper.[4]
- The Groundskeeper's original appearance was similar to how it is now, with the major difference being that it didn't have legs and resembled a ghost. Another earlier model of the Groundskeeper had blue eyes.
- The Groundskeeper will only attack the player when they step on the grass.
- While The Groundskeeper does attack you if it sees you stepping on grass, it is otherwise neutral towards you and will even help you in scenarios involving other entities. This includes killing Mandrakes and Eyestalk, pointing out Monuments, and fighting off Bramble.
- It's possible to get in Groundskeeper's toilet when it is getting in and out of it. However, the game will kick you out of the toilet immediately after you enter it.
- The Groundskeeper emits a yellow glow similar to Figure.
- The Groundskeeper might be connected to Curious Light since they both emit a yellow glow, and because all the outhouses, which the Groundskeeper enters and exits, have the Starlight symbol on the doors.
- The Groundskeeper sees the world around it with a yellow tint.
- The Groundskeeper is currently the only entity with an intelligible voice line, as it's shown to say "Hey!" when it notices a player step on the grass.
- It is also one of the few entities to speak a human language.
- @jasper_creations, one of the animators for DOORS, created a GIF of the Groundskeeper referencing a popular Hello Neighbor GIF,[5] which can be seen in the gallery.
- If the Groundskeeper notices a player is dead, the entity will turn the dead player into a bag with a skull icon on it.
- If the player steps out of the grass before the Groundskeeper reaches them, it will warn the player, but won't kill them.
- According to Curious Light, the guillotines in the Hedge Maze were set up by the Groundskeeper.
- This is further confirmed by an unfinished guillotine in one of the rooms in The Mill.
- According to Grampy,[6] the Groundskeeper plants bugleweeds in order to kill the World Lotus's vines.
- It is implied that the Groundskeeper does need sustenance, or at least consumes anyway, judging by its usage of outhouses.
- There is a chance that the Groundskeeper can chase the player without yelling.

"They seem to have a liking to you now..."
- "Feed the Birds" Achievement description
Caws are entities/animals that appear in The Outdoors. They serve as a warning of approaching entities like Surge or the Groundskeeper.
Appearance[]
They appear like normal crows/ravens with dark gray plumage/feathers and a white underbelly. The have eyes similar to Louie's. Caws are friendly entities.
Behavior[]
- Upon entering a "room," Caws have a chance of spawning; in which case, they'll either be resting on the ground or perching on an object such as a lamppost or a tree.
- When a player gets close to one, it'll make a loud cry before flying up into the sky.
Although at first Caws may seem just as an environmental entity with no impact on gameplay, they have two secret functionalities. For one, they will tend to perch near Lotus Petals and Iron Keys,[7] acting as an indicator for when one is present. Additionally, upon feeding one bread they will boost the spawn rate of Lotus Petals and Iron Keys in addition to providing the "Feed The Birds" achievement
Trivia[]
- The Caws are named after the word "caw," which is "the loud, rough cry of a bird such as a crow."[8]
- The Caw is likely based on the hooded crow.
- Players can gain the "Feed the Birds" achievement by dropping or equipping bread near a Caw.[9]
- Grampy refers to the Caws as "Tweeties."

"Can you shut that thing up already?"
- Curious Light
Mandrakes are entities that appear in The Outdoors. They were first revealed inside the LSPLASH profile picture then inside the Outdoors Teaser Trailer.
Appearance[]
While it's underground, all that's seen of a Mandrake is a bunch of leaves sprouting out of the grass and surrounded by dirt, similar to an actual plant root. In its true form, the Mandrake is a light-pinkish beige, turnip-shaped entity, similar to Screech and Giggle, with glowing yellow eyes. It also has large, dirty grey teeth and is covered in pale-green thorny vines.
Behavior[]
- Roots are abundant throughout the Outdoors. If a player gets too close to some of these roots, a Mandrake will uproot itself and begin wailing at them, forcing the player to look at it.
- While a player's in the presence of a screaming Mandrake, they'll slowly fall unconscious which will result in their death; meanwhile, their vision blurs and darkens.
- There are three ways to survive a Mandrake: firstly, you can pick it up and plant it back in the hole it uprooted itself from. Secondly, you can bring it to the Groundskeeper who'll impale it with its scythe. Lastly, you can walk away from it, although this is very risky.
- If a player walks away from a wailing Mandrake, it'll detach itself from its vine and begin rolling towards the player in order to continue wailing at them. It'll only stop when the player dies or gains enough distance.
- It'll also detach itself from its vine after killing a player in order to find another one to scream at.[10]
- If all players are too far from an active Mandrake (or there are no players alive), it will roll back into its hole and become inactive again permanently.
Trivia[]
- According to Curious Light, the Mandrake's wails kill players by giving them a heart attack.
- The World Lotus likely controls the Mandrakes since they are all wrapped in vines.
- Mandrakes can spawn as early as Door 0, although this is extremely rare.[11]
- Mandrakes are likely based on a myth from the Middle Ages which states they'd cause people to go insane from their screams.[12]
- They might also be inspired by the mandrakes seen in the Harry Potter franchise because they share similar names and behaviors.[13]
- Mandrakes can spawn inside ponds.
- Grampy refers to the Mandrakes as "Parsnipian[s]."

"Keep your chin up. It helps to keep a look out."
- Curious Light
Surge is a hostile entity that appears in The Outdoors.
Appearance[]
Surge takes on the appearance of a pixelated, hastily scribbled face colored white and a very light yellow, meant to represent electric shock waves, having 2 eyes and a mouth.
Behavior[]
- Its arrival is signaled by 1 or 2 lightning strikes that make the sky green, then by the sky flashing yellow, followed by a loud screeching noise.
- When Surge is about to attack, bolts of lightning and thunder fill the sky as the sky turns completely yellow and the players' screens shake. Moments later, Surge spawns in the sky, hundreds of studs above the player, beginning its descent towards them.
- While active, Surge targets the player and moves towards them constantly, circling erratically nearby if it cannot reach them directly.
- Players caught in the open or not hidden when Surge approaches take 40 damage per tick, enough to be fatal within seconds.
- Common shelters are cabins, locked crypts and large caves.
- After being active for approximately 10 seconds, Surge will become unable to damage players and ascends skyward, despawning.
Jumpscares[]
1st Person[]
Surge's face appears in front of the screen, filling the screen with a yellow and green haze of electricty, killing the player.
3rd Person[]
Surge zaps the player, and the player's corpse will have a corrided metal texture, with sparks of electricity flying off of the player's corpse.
Trivia[]
- Unlike other similar entities, Surge is not directly tied to opening doors and instead spawns randomly from time to time.
- Because of this, Surge can spawn multiple times in the same room, even if every player is dead.
- Surge will spawn faster if a new door isn't opened for too long.
- Surge can't spawn in the following situations (unless it produced one if its green lightnings before):
- If the first door hasn't been opened yet.
- If the Groundskeeper spawned in the last opened room.
- If the last opened room is part of Eyestalk's chase (including the start and the end rooms).
- If The Mill has been opened and reached in the run.
- Unlike other similar entities, Surge does not emit ray-casting towards the player. Instead, will just damage players that aren't sheltered or hidden if they are close enough to it.
- The game checks 10 spots around each player (6 studs away) for walls and overhead cover; if none are clear, the player's sheltered, but if at least one is clear, the player is exposed and vulnerable to Surge if not hidden.
- Surge does significantly less damage than other Rush-like entities, giving them more time to hide even if it's already damaged them.
- As Hide and Dread aren't in The Outdoors, players can sit in a hiding spot for as long as they want, and don't have to worry about timing their hiding.
- Most closets and houses have grass before the entrance, so keep in mind that the Groundskeeper can be triggered while trying to hide from Surge.
- Grampy refers to Surge as "Zappers".

"Such a perfect balance between organic and inorganic... It fooled even you! "
- Curious Light
Monuments are hostile entities that can be found in The Outdoors.
Appearance[]
The Monument is a spider-like entity that disguises itself as an obelisk. If not watched, the Monument stands up and shows its spider-like vine legs. Compared to the normal obelisks, they are shorter, and they have a slightly different color (unsure).
Behavior[]
- If there are no players looking at Monument, it gets up and starts walking towards the nearest player.
- The longer the player/s looks away from the Monument, the quicker the entity will move towards the nearest player.
- If Monument reaches a player, it will stab the player and then drag them under itself, eating them thus instantly killing them.
- The Monument will continue to follow the player/s until a boss battle or the end of the game, or until they "kill" the Monument.
Jumpscares[]
1st Person[]
The Monument stabs the player with one of its legs, dealing 35 damage. The player grabs at the monument's leg, trying to break free, until The Monument kills them.
3rd Person[]
The Monument sits on top of the player, crushing them. Then, the Monument gets off the player.
Trivia[]
- It is possible to “kill” Monuments in multiplayer. One player must stare at the Monument, while the others progress. When the player who is staring at the monument gets glitched, since the room with the Monument has despawned, the Monument will fall out of the map.
- If an obelisk has no base, then it is a Monument. This is only visible if the Monument has moved.
- The Groundskeeper can point out Monuments.
- Monuments are not always aggressive.
- One way to distinguish a Monument from an ordinary obelisk is to go up to it and listen for a heartbeat or breathing; if you hear either, it is a Monument.
- A dead Monument can be spotted at The Mill, roasting on a campfire.
- Monuments are similar to weeping angels, due to both being sentient concrete beings and both having the same mechanic.
- Players can clearly see Monuments move when looking at them through windows.
- It is possible to occasionally find Monument corpses that have been cut down to almost their bases. Their interiors can also be seen this way.
- The World Lotus attempts to control Monuments, as seen is a rare side-room. In said side-room, thorny vines are wrapped around a Monument, which is struggling to resist the plant's control.
- This room's animation loops and that could just be because of development, but this could also interpret that the World Lotus started trying to take over this Monument, but then either gave up, or simply didn't see the point, leaving the Monument stranded.
- A scrapped entity that was intended to be added in The Mines Update was mostly likely repurposed to be Monuments. The entity appeared to disguise itself as a small locker.
- Players can look at obelisks to identify Monuments that have not gotten up yet. If the obelisk has a crack on it, it indicates that a Monument is disguised on that obelisk and will start to move if not looked.
- It is possible for Monument to not spawn in the whole run.
- When hiding from Surge, Monuments can walk in front of the closet that the player is hiding and stop moving. It also has a chance to kill the player if the player gets out of the closet.
- Players can hear Monument's footsteps.
- If you are in a solo run before you get to Eyestalk, there are only 2 ways to escape the Monument, it is to get to Eyestalk or lose it behind a vine shortcut as monuments are too tall to pass through them.
- As of now, Monuments are the only entity in the Outdoors that can be deleted by the Admin Panel.
- Grampy refers to the Monuments as "Pillarmen".
Gallery[]
"How unoriginal. I'm sorry you had to see that."
- Curious Light
Eyestalk is a hostile entity that appears in The Outdoors. It was teased in the 36th Devlog.
Appearance[]
Eyestalk appears to be an aspen tree trunk with eye-like markings on its bark. Its body is wrapped in pale green, thorny vines that form into arms and legs, the left lower arm being a branch. It also has a small branch on the left side of its "head", with three small leaves sprouting.
Behavior[]
Player(s) will know when Eyestalk is about to appear when aspen trees (white trees with black marks that resemble eyes) start to gradually appear throughout the areas. Eventually, the player(s) will enter a large gathering with an aspen trunk in the center. As soon as a player reaches the end of the room, the vines appear and takes control of the trunk and a twig beside it, forming Eyestalk, which then begins pursuing the player(s). During the chase, player(s) need to find the correct path while avoiding any Snares on the ground, which may appear in multiples. At the end of the chase, the player(s) jump off a bridge but are unable to get up in time. Before Eyestalk can kill them, however, the Groundskeeper chops the entity in two right as it lunges towards the player(s). One half of Eyestalk tries to grab the player(s') leg with its vines but was taken by the Groundskeeper, who then gave the player(s) a look, before leaving. The other half of Eyestalk was left remaining stationary, presumably dead.
Jumpscares[]
1st Person[]
Eyestalk grows vines around the players leg, while the player tries to grab at the vines and pull free. Once Eyestalk reaches the player, it pounces onto the player, dealing 25 damage. Then, the player looks up at Eyestalk, who then slaps the player, killing them.
Eyestalk is very likely to be controlled by the World Lotus
Trivia[]
- Eyestalk is likely two separate entities, being a piece of aspen tree controlled by the World Lotus. It is implied that the aspen tree's eye patterns are actual eyes which the World Lotus are able to use as sight to pursue the players. The aspen tree itself being an alive entity however is unknown.
- Eyestalk shares many aspects with Seek, to which Curious Light even pointing it out when dying to it, stating the Eyestalk as "unoriginal."
- Both have chase sequences.
- Both have similar build-ups to their chase sequences, with Seek having its eyes appear around the rooms, and Eyestalk having its trees.
- Both have long rooms with a cutscene trigger for their chases.
- Both are heavily themed around eyes.
- Both insta-kill the player(s).
- After killing a player, Eyestalk will emit the same scream as Seek when it kills a player.
- During the chase, players can use a Lantern to scan for Snares, and a compass to look for the next room due to not being provided with guidance.
- Due to Snares only spawning on tiled floors during the chase, player(s) can save fuel by only using the Lantern when they are about to step on tiled floor.
- Though it is not recommended to completely trust compasses as some rooms require going left and right multiple times, making the path to the next room not a straight line that can be followed through.
- Grampy refers to Eyestalk as "Treewalker".

"Hmmmmmehhhh..."
- Grampy
Grampy is a friendly and talkative entity that only appears at the Mill.
Appearance[]
Grampy is a humanoid entity with two glowing purple eyes and black skin. Grampy wears a black cowboy hat with a black stripe. It is always seen sucking on Bugleweed.
Behavior[]
Grampy is considered a friendly entity and will not damage players. Grampy sits in a rocking chair and rocks back and forth. It'll talk to players if they interact with it, giving them a certain amount of dialogue options before ending the conversation. If a player gives Grampy eight Lotus Petals, it'll create a Lotus Flower for them to take.
Trivia[]
- Grampy is likely related to the Groundskeeper since it refers to the latter as "Sonny." They also share similar appearances.
- Grampy's name suggests that it's a male because the word "grampy" is typically refers to old men or grandfathers.
- Grampy is related to Sally, as evidenced by the description for the UGC item "DOORS - Grampy's Scarf." and its reaction when a player talks to it while wearing the UGC item "Sally's Head".
- In the trailer for the Great Outdoors Update, the Groundskeeper could be seen painting a warning sign inside the Mill where Grampy resides.
- According to his dialogue, it takes care of the flowers.
- According to his dialogue, the scarf it wears was made for Sally.
- According to his dialogue, it does not know about El Goblino.

"Hmm... it seems the vines have formed an entire body out of bramble..."
- Curious Light
Bramble is an entity of The Outdoors. It serves as the final boss of the Outdoors, relentlessly trying to pursue the player(s) in The Hedge Maze.
Appearance[]
Bramble has a humanoid body made almost entirely of vines, with its torso, arms, and legs made of vines, wrapped around a lantern, with the lamp of the lantern acting as its head. Bramble's lamp is split into two so as to resemble a mouth, with a vine sticking out of the front of the broken lantern like a tongue. On one of its shoulders, a small lotus flower can be seen.
Behavior[]
Bramble will pace around the maze at a relatively slow speed. The light on its head will periodically be turned on and off. While the light is off, it will not be lethal and simply continue to roam around, allowing the player to maneuver their way around it. Due to its tall size, Bramble's head can often be seen above the hedge maze; however, it cannot see you over the walls.
If the player is caught moving from a distance while the light is on, Bramble will unleash thorns that emerge from the ground to rapidly damage the player. If the thorns reach a moving player it will immediately kill them. The player can avoid death by either breaking line of sight by getting behind a wall, hiding in a closet, or standing still.
If the Bramble is at a considerable distance away from the player, it will withdraw its vines into the ground and leave the remains of its lamppost behind, before wrapping around a new lamppost that is in closer proximity to the player. The remains of lampposts act identically to a regular lamppost, and can be reanimated. It's recommended to be wary of any lampposts because of this. If you walk past a lamppost while you are away from Bramble, be careful, as it's very likely Bramble will appear from it or another nearby lamp.
Jumpscares[]
1st Person[]
Bramble grabs the player and screams, punching the player in the face and killing them.
Gallery[]
Bramble possessing a new lamppost.
Bramble disappearing into the ground, leaving behind its old lamppost.
Trivia[]
- According to Curious Light,[16] Bramble is the World Lotus' host.
- Bramble's manner of walking and attacking, hurrying towards any player it sees while its light's on, seems alike to Figure.
- Additionally, Curious Light suggests that Bramble "assign[s] itself mechanics in order to act like any other entity."[17]
- Bramble was likely the monster fighting the Groundskeeper at the end of the trailer for the Great Outdoors Update.
- The vine holding a lantern which hangs out of the sewer drain at Jeff's Shop in the Mines might be referencing Bramble.
- If the player enters the Mines from the Outdoors, the vine will not be present, further suggesting a connection between it and Bramble.
- Bramble's mechanic, being hostile while its light's on and calm while it's off, is alike to the game "Red Light Green Light."
- Inside the Hedge Maze, if a player runs back down the entrance tunnel and presses against the leaf wall which stops them from escaping, they'll enter a blind spot where Bramble cannot attack or damage them.
- Bramble vaguely resembles the Candlebearers from Pressure.
- The Bramble Lantern's existence suggests that Bramble was killed by the Groundskeeper after the player escaped the Outdoors.
Non-exclusive Entities & Hazards[]
- World Lotus - The main antagonist of the subfloor.
- Snare - Deals 20 non-lethal damage to a player and holds them in place for a few seconds.

Bugs[]
- The signs that say the remaining distance until the exit might be missing the last two digits sometimes, it is unknown why this happens.
- Gates might sometimes not open correctly after pressing their button. This bug likely appeared due a change in Roblox's physics, and LSPLASH, the main developer, has replied to a tweet where this bug is mentioned, blaming Roblox's physics.[18]
- This bug can also affect the big double door near the start of the first room.
- This bug doesn't cause major problems anymore as gates become instantly non-collidable once they start moving, since the 10/19/25 patch.
- When the The Halloween Spotlight Event started, a common bug appeared where Eyestalk would commonly kill people during its ending cutscene. This was patched four days later, in the 10/27/25 patch.
- The Groundskeeper can get stuck sometimes, even ignoring Mandrakes that are attacking players nearby. It can also kill players through walls.
- Mandrakes might jump out at players from unreachable places or places they can't reach in time, killing them almost unavoidably, unless they somehow get away from it before dying.[19]
- Interacting with a Mandrake right as the Groundskeeper is about to kill it will make the player pick up the dead Mandrake, being impossible to drop and taking away the player's ability to hide.
- The Mandrake will disappear from the player's hands once the room where the Mandrake spawned despawns.
- If a player steps on a Snare while a Mandrake is attacking them, that Mandrake will commonly be unable to kill the player.
- Monuments rarely move without playing their footsteps sound.[20] They can also kill players through walls.
- Eyestalk might very rarely instantly disappear and kill everybody instantly after a few seconds. It isn't totally known why this happens, but NormallyAve, one of the developers, has spoken out about this bug and has been trying to fix it.[21]
- The same bug can affect Seek in its chases too, as they work the same exact way.
- Items that spawn on cabin tables have a chance of spawning too far into the cabin's corner, being unreachable and naturally unpickable.
- Items that spawn in fountains have a chance of spawning too far into the fountains's center, being unreachable and naturally unpickable.
- Bramble might very rarely jumpscare players even if they aren't moving, it is unknown why this happens.[22]
- In games with a lot of people, cutscenes and other events might be delayed for some players by several seconds.
- Monuments, Groundskeeper, Eyestalk and Bramble can lead players with God Mode into the Death Screen and damage them with their jumpscares,
Trivia[]
- After completing The Outdoors, players will be sent to The Mines at Jeff Shop down a sewer drain, skipping the rest of The Greenhouse, the final room of The Hotel featuring Figure, and the first half of The Mines, including the first Seek chase, as well as The Nest. This is compensated for by the difficulty of the subfloor, having mostly instant-kill entities.
- Notably, the sewer drain the players fall through won't have a vine holding a lantern which is normally seen when continuing The Mines normally from The Hotel or as a new run.
- This creates a plot hole, as the players never encountered the Grumbles, or made the Figure enter The Mines in the run, yet both appear in The Mines as usual in searching of the players.
- The Outdoors, despite only being a subfloor, is very unique compared to the others, and even different from the main floors in some ways.
- It's the subfloor with the most entities with instakill attacks, with five entities having them.
- The only hostile entities and hazards in this floor without one is Surge, Snare and Bramble's spikes.
- It is the first subfloor to feature major events, such as chases and boss fights.
- It is the first subfloor to include over 3 unique entities and 3D entities.
- It has the most achievements for a subfloor, with 5 exclusive achievements (4 if not counting "Rebirth").
- The Rooms and The Backdoor have 3 and 2 exclusive achievements respectively.
- The Outdoors is the only subfloor to feature no items directly related to Curious Light, aside from Stardust.
- The Backdoor has the Starlight Vial and Starlight Bottle, while The Rooms has the Starlight Jug.
- It is the only floor with cutscenes locked in first-person view.
- While spectating, spectators' camera will change to view the cutscene in first-person with the body of the person they were spectating when it started.
- It's the subfloor with the most entities with instakill attacks, with five entities having them.
- The audio during the ending of the subfloor has both the sound effects and soundtrack being mixed into a single audio file, which is proven by having the music turned off in settings. Consequently, the soundtrack for the ending cannot be listened on it's own without sound effects currently until an official upload is released.
- If Modifiers are active in The Hotel, the entrance to The Outdoors will be blocked by a red barrier, preventing players from accessing it, similar to The Rooms.
- During the initial release, there was no barrier in front the entrance, but you could not use the Skeleton Key on the door.
- Unlike The Rooms' entrance, The Outdoors' entrance is more visible in The Hotel and easier to unlock, most likely due to The Rooms being more of a hidden easter egg and unnecessary for a regular run.
- The average and approximate length of The Outdoors is 2,500m, but it can actually range from 2,050m up to 3,000m, based on currently observed runs.
- The total distance will be mentioned in the first sign found at the first room, past the gates.
- In total, The Outdoors has 35 rooms, 36 if counting the starting room with the fountain.
- The Outdoors' name in the game files is commonly mentioned as "The Garden", even before its release. Because of this, it was widely believed to be named "The Garden", until the final and current name was confirmed.
- The "Garden" name can be also seen in the names of the rooms of the subfloor, and the asset names of the soundtracks of the subfloor.
- The date of leaks from The Outdoors have shown that the subfloor has been being concepted and developed even prior to the DOORS' release.
- The subfloor's first noticeable teaser was in the 6 Billion visits code announcement.[23]
- The Mines was initially also teased in a similar way.[24]
- Before The Mines Update, Room 99 in The Greenhouse had a door that was covered in vines, but was smaller than the current door with vines covering it, this door could have possibly been teasing the subfloor since The Hotel+ Update.
- Though it was believed that this subfloor would release as part of Roblox's The Hunt: Mega Edition event, this was not the case.[25]
- DOORS eventually ended up being a part of the event, however the event did not correlate with a game update; the contestants in the event played RANKED MODE.[26]
- Before the release of the subfloor, the big door in The Greenhouse that was going to lead to The Outdoors was only found in Room 99. After the release, both Rooms 90 and 99 contain this big entrance door.
- It's likely this change was made so that players wouldn't need to always get through the hardest section of The Hotel in order to get into the subfloor.
- At the starting point of The Hedge Maze, there is a statue of a Caw. However, there is a chance that it will be replaced with a horse statue.
- The horse statue references the STUPID HORSE, a scrapped model that was teased during development.
- During development, Lightning_Splash posted an image featuring a model of Gubby (a Roblox OC) in The Outdoors.
- The Outdoors was originally supposed to have rain but the developers didn't like how it looked and therefore it was removed. Despite this, for a short while upon entering The Outdoors there is rain that fades away after a bit.[27]
- This is supported by the fact one of the entities is weather-based, that being Surge.
- The Outdoors is the only subfloor where the player isn't assisted by Curious Light throughout the floor and the exit of the floor.
- The Mill's name was teased before The Great Outdoors Update, suggesting that it was going to be a special room in The Outdoors, as it ended up being.[28]
- Unlike The Rooms and The Backdoor, where you exit via a portal from Curious Light, The Outdoors is directly connected to The Hotel and The Mines.
- However, players still enter The Outdoors through Curious Light.
- In the teasers and the release date trailer for The Great Outdoors Update, the image used for The Outdoors in some of the UI would show one of the backgrounds of the Jungle biome from Terraria.
