"One of The Three Architects marked by Celestials assists You."
- Text seen on the Crucifix's hexagram
The Three Architects are a group of entities consisting of Guiding Light, Curious Light and an Unnamed Red Light. These entities look like colored lights (blue, yellow, and red, respectively) and can be seen throughout all DOORS. Each Architect interacts with players differently than the others.

Main article: Guiding Light Present only on the main floors, Guiding Light is friendly towards the players and assists them in The Hotel and The Mines, highlighting progressive items and providing clues for surviving the entity that killed the players upon death. It is strongly implied that the Crucifix and the Moonlight Candle, which when used emit a blue light, are "powered" by Guiding Light. Guiding Light is represented by the "Moonlight" symbol, a crescent blue moon, visible on the death screen, in the modified version of the "Spacetime" painting, in the Crucifix sigil and in the barriers placed on the doors of Figure's rooms in The Mines and in the ones at the end of the Seek's chases. Guiding Light is implicitly "marked by [a] Celestials". Guiding Light is strongly implied to be female, as suggested by the painting titled 'Her' found in The Outdoors. |

Main article: Curious Light Compared to Guiding Light, Curious Light is neutral towards the players. Present on all floors, it interacts with players only in the subfloors, where Guiding Light is completely absent. Unlike its blue counterpart, Curious Light provides vague information about the subfloors' entities and doesn't help much in gameplay. Additionally, if a player dies too many times to the same entity, Curious Light will begin to become annoyed by this. The Curious Light's symbol is the "Starlight" symbol, a four-pointed yellow star, visible on the death screen, on both versions of the "Spacetime" painting, and on all Starlight items. Curious Light seems to be connected to the Lotus Petal, which is used to create the Lotus, allowing players to reborn using it; and with the World Lotus, a powerful entity that uses its vines to control other entities or objects, such as Eyestalk and Bramble.

Not much is known about it, but it is theorized that the Red Light (also known as the Red Architect) focuses on challenging players or may be hostile towards them, unlike Guiding Light and Curious Light. It blocks the access to The Rooms and The Outdoors when Modifiers are active (However, this is planned to be changed in the future). It is also likely the cause of the Crucifix's failure to banish the boss entities, such as Figure, Seek, and the Queen Grumble. The community has given to the Red Light a fan-made name, Mischievous Light. The Red Light symbol appears to be the Modifiers symbol, a red spiral, visible in the top right of the screen when they are activated and in the modified version of the "Spacetime" painting. The spiral is often considered a symbol of challenge, reflecting the strange differences of gameplay when Modifiers are active. While the Tower Heroes event is non-canon, it's worth noting that there the Red Light warns players (as Figure) when enemies start pouring into the Library. This might suggest that it helps Figure in some way. The Red Light may also have a connection to Seek, who emits a red light from its body every time it appears, by the red stains that appear on the walls during its chases and that in The Dam a red light will indicate the attack point of the Seek Worm and the Seek Hands. |
Trivia[]
- The title "The Three Architects" is derived from the encrypted message seen on the Crucifix's banishing sigil when it is used against an entity (decoded from the Wingdings font): "OneOfTheThreeArchitectsMarkedByCelestialsAssistsYou" (without spaces). With spaces and proper capitalization: "One of The Three Architects marked by celestials assists you".
- The Three Architects being "Marked by celestials" seems to imply that the symbols for all of the Architects are meant to resemble celestial bodies, which clearly lines up with Guiding Light's moon and Curious Light's star. It's not entirely clear what the Red Architect's symbol is meant to be, but it could resemble a spiral-like celestial body such as a black hole, nebula, or galaxy. Out of the three, it's more likely to be a black hole, seeing as the symbol would only resemble spiral galaxies, which are just one of many types of galaxies. There's also the fact that all discovered spiral galaxies have a supermassive black hole at the center of them such as our own galaxy, the Milky Way.
- Something worth noting, is that Guiding Light's moon symbol isn't as smooth or polished as Curious Light's or the Red Architect's. This may imply that Guiding Light might be outcasted by the other Architects, or it could be a mistake that will get fixed in the near future.
- This is most likely a mistake since Curious Light's symbol was originally as rough as Guiding Light's symbol.

- The Three Architects are the three primary colors.
- During the Library cutscene, Guiding Light breaks the lamp to distract Figure. This is easily noticeable due to Guiding Light's sparkles nearby the lamp after the cutscene finishes.
- Guiding Light also closes and protects various other doors, such as after the player completes the Library's puzzle, or at the end of Seek's chases.
- The filenames for the icons of the Red Architect and Guiding Light on the "Spacetime" painting are "scarylittlelight".
- In the Spacetime Painting, certain knob bonus milestones from Modifiers will change Guiding Light's icon and the Red Architect's icon to different brightness levels and sizes.
- The Red Architect's icon gets brighter from higher knob bonuses, while Guiding Light's icon gets dimmer and smaller.
- While playing without modifiers, the "Spacetime" painting still has the Guiding Light’s and the Red Architect, but they're extremely small (most likely to hide it with the other celestial assets in the painting).
- The Curious Light's block to The Backdoor for when the player doesn't have the "Detour" achievement represents its star symbol, although the Red Architect's block to The Rooms and The Outdoors when the player has Modifiers enabled doesn't have the Modifiers symbol.
- The Red Architect's block is similar to the cracks in the walls of the Rift room and the Rift itself in The Electrical Room. They share a triangle particle that Curious Light's block lacks, but the Red Architect's block uses the forcefield material like Curious Light's block does, instead of neon like the Rift cracks.
- The generators in The Mines have their fuses glowing blue, yellow, and red. It is speculated that the fuses represent The Three Architects.
- The reason why the Red Architect blocks off the gates to The Rooms and the entrances of The Outdoors is likely because the Rooms and the Outdoors are incompatible with The Hotel modifiers.[1]
- Also, in the tweet where LSPLASH says this, he also says "also um.... l... lo... nevermind". This likely implies there was another reason too, probably something related to the Red Architect.
- Underneath the crucifix sigil and on the "entity door block barrier", there is a moonlight symbol, referencing Guiding Light. Similarly, when the player escapes the Backdoor and the Rooms, they are teleported to the Hotel, and the door that took them there is suspended in the middle of the room. Underneath this door, they can see a starlight symbol, referencing Curious Light.
- The Three Architects have their own background color in the icons for DOORS, Guiding Light in the Hotel+ update, Curious Light in the Post-Hunt update, and The Red Architect in the Modifiers update. This was hinting that the three light characters would be influenced in their own updates.
- A teaser on X by RediblesQW in March 2021, one of the first teasers ever of DOORS, showed a window in the Hotel, where three lights could be seen from a distance. They seem to have the same exact colors as the Three Architects.[2]
- This also proves that the Three Architects were all planned before they all actually entered the game.
- The only friendly entity Guiding Light can crucify is Louie.
- It is unknown why they do this, although it is possible Guiding Light incorrectly sees Louie as a hostile entity, or Guiding Light powers but not controls the crucifix, or most likely the light thought crucifying Louie was the best option for the players. This also could be because Louie is a more neutral entity, and doesn't mainly focus on helping the player.
- The Red Architect could be seen as a challenge preserver, as it seems to have the ability to cancel out the powers of Guiding Light, most notably seen when the player tries to crucify Seek, The Figure, and The Queen Grumble. While this was added for gameplay reasons to prevent The Player from skipping important challenges, it should be noted that it doesn't try to stop other entities from being banished. This could mean that The Red Architect isn't entirely evil and simply wants to challenge the player, or it could mean that it sees the other entities as too unimportant to be protected from banishment. It also allows the player to choose modifiers they want to make the game harder or easier for themselves meaning they can interfere with certain things about the hotel but choose not to.
- Although in the lobby players get to choose their own modifiers, this could be part of the lore and could indicate that the player did not add the modifiers, but rather the Red Architect is trying to further challenge them.
- During the 2024 "Trick or Treat" event and The Halloween Spotlight Event, each Architect had a dedicated candy:
- The Guiding Light themed candy gives the "Life Saver" (previously "Guidance") effect, which instantly illuminates the doors in the current room and highlight important objects, such as keys and fuses, through walls, and also certain entities, such as Figure and the Grumbles.
- This refers to the helping nature of Guiding Light.
- The Curious Light themed candy gives the "Star Burst" (Previously "Volatile Starlight") effect, which can heal/overheal players, damage them, or make them explode, similar to Firedamp, giving them, except for the third case, a speed increase.
- This refers to the neutral nature of Curious Light.
- The Red Light themed candy gives the "Can-die" effect, which deals 100 damage, usually instantly killing players but, during the event, it increased the candy eaten counter by 5 units, unlike all other candies.
- This could mean that the Red Architect could offer players challenges, offering them large rewards if they are successful.
- Modifiers reinforce this theory: increasing the difficulty will award more Knobs, in the same way, decreasing it will award fewer Knobs and, for some modifiers, the disabling of some aspects of the gameplay, such as the Rifts and the Achievements.
- This could mean that the Red Architect could offer players challenges, offering them large rewards if they are successful.
- The Guiding Light themed candy gives the "Life Saver" (previously "Guidance") effect, which instantly illuminates the doors in the current room and highlight important objects, such as keys and fuses, through walls, and also certain entities, such as Figure and the Grumbles.
- Curious Light appears to be the strongest Architect, as it appears on every floor (unlike Guiding Light and the Red Architect, who are only present on the main floors), can see and knows about the existence of Glitch, and it appears as the largest celestial body in the "Spacetime" painting, even with Modifiers.
- Curious Light drew the paintings in The Outdoors.
- One of these, depicting Guiding Light's symbol, is titled "Her," revealing that her gender is female.
- Because of this, Guiding Light could be the "She" entity that Curious Light mentions in Blitz's first death message.
- The fact that Guiding Light has a gender opens up the possibility that Curious Light and Red Light may have one too.
